Privacy policy
Last updated 21 October 2026
This policy covers marklesterbasco.com and the sites hosted under it. They are personal projects run by me, Mark A. Basco, and I am responsible for the information they collect. They collect very little, and none of it is sold, shared for advertising or used to profile you.
The contact form
When you send a message through the contact form, I store:
- your name, email address, subject and message, so I can read and answer it;
- a browser fingerprint: an identifier your browser calculates from its own settings. It is used only to allow one message per hour, to keep spam out;
- the time it was sent.
Before a message is accepted, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it comes from a person rather than a bot. Cloudflare processes information about your browser and device for that check, under its own privacy policy. Your browser also remembers when you last sent a message, so the form can tell you to wait.
Messages are stored in the site’s database at Supabase. I keep a message for as long as I need it to reply to you, and I delete it when you ask.
Information from Google
Where a page offers sign-in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with that site. They are used only to confirm who you are and to keep you signed in, with a session cookie. Nothing else is requested from your Google account, and this information is not shared with anyone else or used for advertising.
The use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Cookies and browser storage
There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies are sign-in session cookies, set only when someone signs in. The browser storage used by the contact form and the travel map holds only small, practical values on your own device: the time you last sent a message, and where the map was last centred.
Services the pages load
Like any website, these pages load files from other services, and those services see your IP address and browser details when they send them:
- Netlify hosts the sites and keeps ordinary server logs;
- Google Fonts provides some of the typefaces;
- Mapbox draws the maps;
- Supabase stores the images and data the pages show;
- Cloudflare provides the Turnstile check on the contact form.
Your rights
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Send your request through the contact form and I will answer it. If you think I have handled your information badly, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes
If what these sites collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
